EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES AT IES BENALMÁDENA

The European Year of Languages 2001, jointly organised by the Council of Europe and the European Union, was successful in involving millions of people across 45 participating countries. Its activities celebrated linguistic diversity in Europe and promoted language learning.

Promoting the learning of languages and awareness of its importance for our students at IES Benalmádena we have organised activities during the foreign language lessons. Students have been reading about some language facts in the EDL page and then they have been creating huge posters with messages in different languages spoken by our students at IES Benalmádena. 

Following the success of the Year of Languages, the Council of Europe declared a European Day of Languages to be celebrated on 26th of September each year. The general objectives of the European Day of Languages are:

1. Alerting the public to the importance of language learning and diversifying the range of languages learnt in order to increase plurilingualism and intercultural understanding;
2. Promoting the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe, which must be preserved and fostered;
3. Encouraging lifelong language learning in and out of school, whether for study purposes, for professional needs, for purposes of mobility or for pleasure and exchanges.

26 September 2011 marked the 10th anniversary of the European Day of Languages (EDL) celebrated at the Council of Europe and throughout its 47 member states.

WHO IS THE EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES FOR?

The Council of Europe is hoping that this Day will be celebrated both by authorities in its member states and potential partners at the following levels:

• among policy-makers (specific measures or discussions on language policy issues, for instance)
• among the general public (awareness-raising on the overall objectives of the Day, including the importance of lifelong language learning, starting at any age, in educational establishments, at work, etc);
• in the voluntary sector (specific actions by and/or for NGOs, associations, companies, etc).

WELCOME SCHOOL YEAR 2017/2018

Septiembre ha llegado y mañana volveremos a encontrarnos,padres, profesores y estudiantes del IES Benalmádena, con ganas renovadas de hacer de nuestro centro una comunidad educativa vibrante y con la ilusión de que no sólo los estudiantes que participan en el programa bilingüe del centro sino todos los estudiantes consigan sus objetivos de formación para este curso.

Desde mi cuarto curso a cargo de la coordinación bilingüe y a cargo de este blog sobre bilingüismo en nuestr centro me dirijo a los padres dando una calurosa bienvenida a ellos y a sus hijos/as, y , muy especialmente a los de nuestros nuevos alumnos de CEIP Jacaranda y CEIP Mariana Pineda. 

Este año es muy importante para los estudiantes que empiezan 1º ESO. Cambiar de su colegio al IES es un cambio que debe ocurrir de forma positiva y que los profesores, en coordinación con el equipo directivo de nuestro centro preparamos cuidadosamente.

Es el "periodo de transición", vuestros hijos/hijas tendrán muchos profesores nuevos, materias nuevas, un centro por explorar y unas normas y deberes que respetar. La colaboración entre el centro escolar y la familia es esencial para que el entorno educativo sea óptimo. 

En el IES la figura del tutor de grupo canaliza todas las inquietudes, dudas y necesidades de los padres respecto al proceso educativo. Desde la coordinación bilingüe aportamos la información necesaria y continua para la correcta y homogénea implantación del programa en coordinación con los profesores y tutores del centro.

Entre las tareas del coordinador bilingüe está la de la creación y actualización de este blog que pretende conseguir varios objetivos:

-   Informar sobre el programa bilingüe del centro.

- Informar periódicamente a los padres sobre las actividades realizadas en los cursos bilingües.

- Aunar en el blog una recopilación de materiales web de las distintas materias impartidas en el centro. De este modo tanto profesores como estudiantes tienen acceso a material de repaso, apoyo y ampliación de todas las materias que se imparten en inglés dentro del programa o ANL.

- Dar voz a todos los miembros del equipo que quieran colaborar con aportaciones bien sean de metodología, materiales, reflexiones, trabajos de sus alumnos, etc

- Dar visibilidad a nuestro programa bilingüe y a nuestro centro. Proyectamos a la comunidad escolar local y mundial lo que hacemos a través de su promoción en redes como Twitter y Facebook.

Animamos a los padres, estudiantes y profesores a seguir y participar de este blog.

Damos la bienvenida a nuestros nuevos profesores de asignaturas no lingüísticas.
